Holidays last longer in Gudhjem!
-because you will never forget them.
Gudhjem is the best known city on Bornholm. You will remember the delicacy ”Sunshine on Gudhjem”, painters, craftsmen, galleries, museums and last but not least the charm and the characteristics of this Mediterranean influenced town.
In the old days fishing made existence possible in this town. Gudhjem has two ports, enabling the return of fishing vessels during tough storms and rough sea. Today Gudhjem has become a very popular holiday resort, but the pulse from the fishing days and the mediterranean touch has been preserved.
High above the town is the plantation with the idyllic forest lake, Gråmyr. Here you will find ancient stone monuments and a large amount of different berries. From the ridge Bokul, you have the best view over it all. You see the town, its ports, the coastline and the most beautiful and colourful sunsets, you can imagine.
On the coast track towards Melsted, you surrender to the roaring sound of the waves hammering the cliff coast. You are walking in an almost imaginary world and totally forget your everyday.
The fishing village Melsted has its own port. Here anglers are catching fresh fish every day. You find Melsted beach with sand dunes and a bathing jetty and also the farming museum Melstedgård. This is a very well preserved thatched farm, that appears as when it was build in 1796. The farm is kept alive with domestic animals in the stables and original agricultural machinery in the fields, drawn by horses, just as the old days, many years ago.
